Foxes
Foxes are omnivores and will eat a wide range of foods. Their diet mostly consists of small mammals and fruit but they will readily eat food waste that is discarded by people.
Foxes mate in winter and the female will give birth to cubs inside the den around springtime. By autumn the cubs are fully self sufficient and will either leave to establish their own territories or stay with the family group.
Urban foxes can become a nuisance as they can establish dens in residential gardens or even inside buildings potentially causing damage. Foxes are timid animals and will rarely attack people unless the den is under threat or if they are cornered.
Treatment:
Foxes can be controlled by preventing access into potential den sites such as areas under garden sheds or decking, if a den is already established the area can not be blocked off and the owner will need to wait for the foxes to move on before any works go ahead.
Live trapping and the use of fox repellents are other approved methods of fox control.
